I wanted to jump into the river today,
Cold, swollen fury that it is.
But the river's more a metaphor
And not an escape.
I want it to carry me down its currents,
Sweep me off my feet,
Deep and wild into its passionate swell.
I want it to wash away the misery,
Cleanse me in it's ever running waters.
Longman, 7 times Longman,
Come take me down.
New fires are burning,
I can see their fierce brightness
Not far off
Take me down to the oceans,
Send me reeling up their shores.
Hold me close and dive me down,
Until I am one with the current.
