World's Shortest Pitch

Have you ever tried to make yourself into some ideal because you hoped it would give you a better life? The Summer of Pomba Gira is about two Chicago families who encounter one another in crisis despite their best efforts to meet that ideal. A story of relationships, it weaves the lives of those struggling with family conflict, internalized racism and addiction with the influence of spiritual intercessions and transformative moments. What might happen in our lives if influences beyond our comprehension intervened and we were only the backdrop to it?

  2. Here's my suggestion: "Have you ever tried to remake yourself into an ideal thinking you would have a better life? The Summer of Pomba Gira is the story of two families in crisis who meet while striving toward their own ideals. Family conflict, internalized racism and addiction are woven together with spiritual intercessions and transformative moments. It raises the question of what might happen to you if influences beyond your comprehension were to intervene in your life.

I used the word, "you," because it automtically involves the reader, whereas, "our," is more impersonal. All for what it's worth!
